    Dakshin
    1154 1st Ave (63rd and 64th)
    1713 1st Ave (88th and 89th)
    749 9th Ave (50th and 51st)
    Time: Everyday 12-3
Price: All you can eat buffet, $7.99

dakshinI’m a superfan of all-you-can-eat meal deals, as you can imagine.  And Dakshin does not disappoint.  With several different dishes: chicken, lamb, potatoes and veggies all with different sauces and curries, it’s yummy in da tummy.  The quality is what one would expect with an Indian buffet, but the quantity is what’s important.  Unlimited. And that goes for the naan and rice, and all the chutneys as well.  You’ll eat so much that curry will be seeping through your pores for a week.  You’ll eat so much it would make Ghandi blush.  You’ll eat so much that strangers will come up and rub your Buddha belly for good luck.  So hop on your elephant, and ride over to one of the three NYC locations! (P.S.- I’ve dined here several times, but never had my camera.  So I popped in today and took a picture, causing quite a stir among the staff and the patrons.  Oh, the life of the anonymous blogger!)

Greenpoint Beer Festival at Red Star
    37 Greenpoint Ave, Brooklyn
    Time: Sunday, November 7, 1-11
Price: Free Entry, 6 beer samples for $20

If this is anything like the movie, it will be awesome.  And if I knew how to get to Brooklyn, I’d definitely be there.  36 brews from 20 different breweries.  If you don’t drink beer because you are gluten-free, or consider yourself a “whiskey-man,” come for the live music by several musicians, including John Forte or the Fugees.

    Le Cirque
    150 E 58th
    Time: Wednesday November 4, 7:30pm
    Price: Chicken, free

Apparently there is some big basketball game tonight?  I’m not sure.  But in honor of whatever it is, Le Cirque is giving away fried chicken tonight.  Who knew this fancy schmancy restaurant would ever appear on such a low-brow cheapo blog!  The chicken may be free, but how much for a beer, $12?

    Groupon.com

A groupon is exactly what it sounds like: a coupon for groups.  While it doesn’t quite have the ring of Bennifer, it does have a daily deal for things in NYC, often restaurants, but at other times spa treatments, events, shows, etc. Today there are two groupons up for grabs, $25 for a $50 coupon for Maya (a pricey little Mexican joint down the street from my apartment) and also $26 for a wine, beer and champagne included cruise around New York harbour (Yumm….Brrrrr…)  But the catch is: a minimum amount of people need to sign on for the deal before midnight, otherwise you don’t get it (but no worries, you are not charged for the coupon).  So check out Groupon.com today, or I’ll keep you posted on their other cheap food deals as they come!
