I’m having hot flashes just writing about this.   Go! Go! Curry is hosting a competition to see who can eat the most Japanese curry rice in the shortest time.  In the preliminary round, you’ll have to eat two plates (24 oz).  If you are among the top six finishers overall, you’ll get to compete in the final round against the likes of the Mouth of the South, Dark Horse and Porkslap to see who can eat the most curry in twenty minutes.  So, if you don’t already feel like vomiting, check out the promotional video, and watch as curry slops all over the trucker beards that adorn the competitors (another unspoken requirement.)

A new pub just opened up in Noho, and to promote themselves, they are giving away fries and a drink, if you mention the code word “Wheaten Terrier.”  They also have a happy hour everyday from 4-8: $3 pints, $4 Well drinks, $5 Cosmos and Appletinis.  Stop by before March passes you by!

City Bakery is already in full swing with its famous hot chocolate festival, where it amps up this liquid dessert to the next level.  Check out the calendar to pick which days look the sweetest.  Today is Espresso hot chocolate, but there are more exciting options, including Banana Peel hot chocolate, Beer and Brown Sugar hot chocolate and “Sunken Treasure” hot chocolate.

ITJS is back from winter break, and is looking forward to a 2010 loaded with princes’ food at paupers’ prices.  Thank God Restaurant Week is right around the bend, this year featuring 260 pretty-expensive restaurants serving not-quite-as-expensive set meals. So put on your bib, start polishing your fork and knife, and make yourself a reservation today!

If this is anything like the movie, it will be awesome.  And if I knew how to get to Brooklyn, I’d definitely be there.  36 brews from 20 different breweries.  If you don’t drink beer because you are gluten-free, or consider yourself a “whiskey-man,” come for the live music by several musicians, including John Forte or the Fugees.

Apparently there is some big basketball game tonight?  I’m not sure.  But in honor of whatever it is, Le Cirque is giving away fried chicken tonight.  Who knew this fancy schmancy restaurant would ever appear on such a low-brow cheapo blog!  The chicken may be free, but how much for a beer, $12?

Yee-haw, its time for a hoe-down, darn-tootin!  There will be a buffet of organic and locally grown cuisine and live music from four bands, including the Rude Mechanical Orchestra, and dancing.  All proceeds go to the Growing Food and Justice Initiative, which helps local farmers help all of us.  Sounds like a win/win.  Hope to kick up some dust with y’all there!
